Fiber optic media converter can be divided into non-manageable type optical fiber media converter and management type fiber media converter. Most operators hope that all devices in their network can be managed via remote network, and the fiber optic media converter will gradually be developed in this direction as well as switches and routers. Manageable media converter can also be subdivided into two types, manageable in local network and manageable in client network. The third is to install a master CPU on the terminal fiber optic media converter, so that the network management system can monitor the working state of the user's device on the one hand, in addition, it can also realize remote configuration and remote restart. In the three kinds of management methods, the first two are strictly remote monitoring only, and the third is the real remote network management. But the third way adds CPU and increase the cost on the terminal device so the first two ways are more advantageous in cost. With the increasing demand for network management from operators, it is believed that the management of optical fiber media converter will be more practical and intelligent.
