How To Judge A Qualified Fiber Optic Jumper

 

First, to check does the fiber optic jumper broken or not by using optical fiber fault locator (fiber pen), if the fiber is broken, there is no light during test and test the insertion loss and return loss by tester. If the IL and RL do not meet order requirement, and there is no problem with the master cable and the test equipment, the fiber patch cord may have problem.

 

For high quality requirement, it is better to do geometry test of the end face by using 3D interferometer to test radius of curvature (ROC), apex offset, fiber height, etc.

 

Fiber end checking, to check is there dirt, dust and scratches on the surface by using the video fiber magnifier, the instrument can provide the clearest image, and we also can use variable magnification magnifier to test, the instrument can magnify the glass fiber to be 400 times or 200 times of real size, you can observe the optical fiber end face and fiber core clearly and easily. Of course, you can also use the relevant software for automatic inspection.

 

Fiber tensile test, test maximum tensile strength which the fiber connector can withstand.

Environmental temperature test, to test the performance of optical fiber connector at different ambient temperature conditions.

 

Since the last two test is complicated and it need special environment, so Fiberall already sent sample to third party for test, in mass production, we use the same process, same equipment and same material in all products so their characteristic will not different with the sample and we do not do these two test again for all items in real production.
